First of all, RFID tags are mainly composed of coupling components and tag chips. During the production process, each RFID tag will be given a unique electronic code, and it will be attached to an object to mark and identify it. Also, it is generally called an electronic tag or smart tag. Since the introduction of RFID tags, it has been favored by various industries. With the rapid development of RFID technology, there are more types of RFID tags, and each type of RFID tag has its own different features and is also applied in various different scenarios. So what are the general classifications? As one of the best RFID labels manufacturers, let Crepak explain to you.
RFID tags can be classified according to battery power.
Active RFID tags are powered by built-in batteries, which determine the number and shape of the batteries used according to the tags.
Advantages: it has a long reading and writing recognition distance. The recognition distance between the RFID reader and the active RFID tag can reach dozens of meters, or even hundreds of meters.
Application: it can be used for industry, logistics, real-time traffic management, electronic wireless communication, personnel asset positioning, vehicle access control, etc.
The passive RFID tag does not contain a battery, and it mainly obtains the required power from the RFID reader. When the passive RFID tag is close to the RFID reader, the antenna of the passive RFID is used to convert the received electromagnetic waves into electrical energy to activate the chip in the RFID tag and display it in the RFID reader.
Advantages: it has small size, lightweight, low cost, long life, and the guaranteed life are more than 10years. Besides, it can be made into different shapes such as sheets or hanging buckles, and used in different environments.
Applications: it can be used for anti-counterfeiting traceability, asset management, book management, document and file management, logistics supply chain management, etc.
The semi-active RFID tag is a special tag that integrates the advantages of active RFID tags and passive RFID tags. In normal conditions, it is in a dormant state and does not work. The semi-active RFID tag will be in a working state only when it is activated by an alow-frequency activator in a certain range with an activation signal.
Advantages: compared with passive tags, semi-active RFID tags have faster response speed and better work efficiency. Compared with active tags, semi-active tags consume less battery power.
Application: it can be used for semi-active RFID access control management, precise personnel positioning, item positioning, regional positioning management, parking lot management, perimeter management, electronic fences, security alarms, and other fields.
